During a recent appearance on the Victoire podcast, Awesome Kong discussed leaving AEW in 2020 and noted that her exit was amicable.

Kong was one of the first wrestlers to sign with AEW and appeared on television in the company’s opening year.

She said: “I just started working with AEW, almost a year before the pandemic, at the beginning of 2019. Whenever AEW started, I was there, and then in the middle… I had to leave for a while to go film GLOW, and then while we were filming GLOW, the pandemic happened, and due to some of my illnesses, I couldn’t travel, and God bless them, AEW paid me for way longer than I thought they would or should and we just parted ways because I couldn’t come back and why keep paying someone? We parted peacefully, seriously. They paid me a lot more than I would pay someone who doesn’t show up for work. I’m just saying yes.”

During a recent appearance on the Love Wrestling podcast, former AEW wrestler Marco Stunt explained his decision to retire from wrestling.

Stunt explained that his choice was influenced by health concerns, as he faced the risk of being paralyzed.

Stunt said: “So this is something I’ve been trying to avoid for a while. I had a lot of lower back problems and now I understand why. It’s just something I’ve been trying to put aside. I knew it would happen eventually, but I thought I could have a few more years, (and) another good try. I went to the doctor and they did a bunch of diagnostic tests and learned a bunch of things about me. They noticed that my right hip was internally rotating, causing my tailbone to move to the side. It just causes a ton of pain. If I kept doing this, with the size of my hip already, I would say I’m already short, right? I’m a little person! But my right leg is now shorter than my left because of the hip. This is fine. Many people have shorter legs, or one leg shorter than the other, but for me this is the reason. He will continue to do this, so I no longer have any strength in my right leg. I have a lot of strength: I realized it in time. We caught it early enough that I didn’t have to go in for surgery the next month or anything like that. We’ll see what we can do. But their recommendation was for the sake of my long-term health to step away (from wrestling). There is a possibility of being paralyzed. It was a wake-up call.

Now I have a family. Not everyone knows this, but now I have a family. I have a daughter. The last two years have been a whirlwind of great things, and obviously some not-so-good things have happened as well. I’m in a great place in my life, even though I physically have to step away from the ring. I’m happy with how things are going. I’m happy with the way things are going. “I’m really excited to have a family, grow a family and focus on that as much as I can while wrestling as much as I can.”

He continued: “It’s hard. I’ve been in this constant pain – it’s not always bad – for a while now. I took at least two years off from the ring and then came back. I actually think if I just kept going, I would feel better than I do now that I took a break and came back and reintroduced myself (to wrestling) last week and it was great. My cardio isn’t as good as it used to be, but. It was fun. I felt good. But the next morning I woke up and felt good mentally and thought, “Man, I know it hurts, but I feel like I can keep going.” doctor (scheduled) and I thought, “Okay, I’ll go see what it is,” and they told me all this. I talked to my family and said, “This is what they said could happen.” that’s what I’m thinking.” They were completely supportive. I think it’s almost a sigh of relief for them because they don’t like to see anymore – they like to see me struggle, but they don’t like to see me struggle at the same time. time”.
