After surprise inspection, Ludhiana MC chief warns missing employees

Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal conducted surprise inspections on Monday to assess cleanliness at the ground level.

Surprise checks were carried out in Model Town/Model Town Extension, areas around bus stand, Ghumar Mandi, Dugri and other areas. Absence of sanitation staff was found in several places and stern warnings were issued to the staff. The employees have been directed to ensure attendance, failing which strict departmental action will be taken against them.

During Monday’s inspections, central roadsides, parks and others were also checked.

Chief Sanitary Inspectors (CSIs), sanitary inspectors and other officials have also been asked to monitor their respective areas, failing which action will be taken against the staff if laxity in cleanliness is found.

MC Joint Commissioner Ankur Mahindru, Executive Engineer Jatinderpal Singh, Health Officer Vipal Malhotra and other officials were present during the inspections.

Dachalwal said sanitation staff were absent from several places on Monday and warnings have now been issued. If any negligence is noticed in the future, departmental action will be taken against the concerned employees or officials.

Dachalwal further stated that the horticulture department has also been tasked with ensuring cleanliness in parks, green areas, central roadsides, etc.

A register has also been drawn up, instructing sanitary inspectors to carry out inspections in various areas of the city to ensure regular sweeping, door-to-door collection of garbage, etc.

Dachalwal asked residents to lodge a complaint with the civic body officials if sanitation staff continue to be absent from their respective areas. Strict measures will be taken to ensure regular cleaning.
