KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Voters across Kansas City spent the final hours before Election Day in different ways.

KSHB 41’s Abby Dodge spoke with both early voters and those who waited until Tuesday, all who agreed they were looking for peace during the election season.

“Especially with the state of America as a whole,” voter Lacey Knight said. “I think it was something that was hard, or should be hard, for all of us.”

Knight spent the morning at the park with her daughter, which is a routine activity for them. She said the crisp fall air was especially peaceful Monday morning.

Knight plans to bring his daughter to the polls Tuesday while she casts her ballot.

Other families at the park said they changed their usual voting routine and turned in ballots early.

“I’m glad that you can do this and not have to stand in lines and all that,” said Kathy Wilking, who visits the area with her family of six.

Voters in a similar position headed to the Country Club Plaza for a leisurely shopping trip without the stress of voting on Election Day.

The Boylans said they hoped for a quiet Tuesday as they watched the votes being counted.

“We know we’ve done our part,” Bridget Boylan said. “And now we’re just waiting to see the results.”

Some voters waited more than an hour at the Kansas City Board of Elections office to vote just a day early.

While battling splashes and serious lines, they wanted to check it off their to-do list to be confident in what their Election Day would look like.

“It’s peaceful, watching TV and watching them count the votes,” said voter Dana Tyrone King.

Polls in Missouri open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
