Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office K9 to receive body armor donation

Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office K9s Diller and Ozara will receive new bulletproof vests provided by the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. Vests sponsored by the Survival Armor Incentive Program will be personalized with the words “Donated by Interest in K9s and Survival Armor.” Delivery is expected within ten weeks.

Founded in 2009, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides protective vests and other resources for K9s in law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The organization has donated more than 5,794 vests across the country. is valued at $6.9 million and is funded by private and corporate contributions. Each vest, made in the USA, is NIJ certified, weighs between four and five pounds and comes with a five-year warranty.

The program is open to American K9s over 20 months of age and actively certified by law enforcement or an appropriate agency. K9s with expired vests are also eligible for equipment replacement. The K9 company estimates there are about 30,000 law enforcement K9s in service across the country.
