Jason Kelce regrets ‘heated’ moment after smashing student’s phone as Taylor Swift says ‘I’m not proud of it’

Jason Kelce has expressed regret over an incident in which he threw a Penn State student’s phone to the ground after the student made an offensive comment about his brother Travis Kelce dating pop star Taylor Swift. Speaking on ESPN’s pre-game show Monday night before the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jason admitted he was “not proud” of his reaction.

“Look, I’m not happy with everything that happened. I’m not proud of it,” Jason said, reflecting on the fight. “In the heat of the moment, I decided to meet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing to do.” He continued, highlighting his disappointment with his response, saying, “I fell to a level I shouldn’t have.”

Jason, 36, stressed that he tries to live by the golden rule, treating people with respect and decency. “I will continue to move forward even though I failed this week,” he added.

A tense conversation captured on video during Jason’s appearance at Penn State for ESPN. College GameDayquickly went viral on social media. In the footage, the student can be heard shouting: “Kelsey, do you think your brother wants to date Taylor Swift?” In response, Jason turned around, grabbed the phone, threw it to the ground and, in another clip, repeatedly asked the critic, “Who the hell is it now?”

The incident is currently under investigation by Penn State Police and Public Safety. Jason has been a constant supporter of his brother Travis, 35, and his relationship with Swift, but admitted the moment wasn’t received in a way he’s proud of.
