Southern Maryland Woman Stunned by $150,000 Powerball Prize

Southern Maryland Woman Stunned by 0,000 Powerball Prize

WALDORF, MD. — A Charles County woman accustomed to handling large sums of money was stunned to discover she had won a $150,000 Powerball prize. The Southern Maryland financial advisor, who handles six- and seven-figure accounts every day, said seeing that kind of amount tied to her own name was a completely different experience.

“It’s one thing for me to see all these zeros in the ledger at work when they’re other people’s financial accounts,” she told lottery officials. “It’s a different story when your name is on the check.”

The winner, who frequently plays Pick 4 and considers it her favorite game, decided to buy a Powerball ticket during a stop at the Waldorf 7-Eleven on Oct. 30. The next day, she scanned her ticket at the store and received a “See Lottery message.” Confused, she asked the clerk to scan it, and when she saw the $150,000 prize, she celebrated with a quick dance at the counter.

The winning ticket, purchased at the 7-Eleven store located at 11575 Berry Road, included two combinations of her own choosing, but her top prize came from the quick pick line on the ticket.

Even though she’s familiar with large sums of money, the Charles County resident said the windfall left her baffled.
