Former Indian team player on Rohit Sharma

Former Indian team player on Rohit Sharma

India ODI captain and Test captain Rohit Sharma was under immense pressure after losing the three-match Test series against New Zealand.

The series marked India’s first win on home soil in over 100 years, while New Zealand celebrated a Test series win in India after over 70 years.

However, Rohit Sharma, who took responsibility for the defeat, is still under fire as India visit Australia for a five-match Test series starting on November 22.

The series is all the more important for Team India as a 4-0 win will ensure their berth in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

While a slight loss in the series does not mean they are out of the race, their chances will depend on the performance of other teams.

With Rohit Sharma’s availability for the opening Tests still unclear, questions remain open about his red-ball career.

Former India player and selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth has opined that if Rohit Sharma fails in Australia, he will quit the format on his own.

Speaking about Rohit’s form on his YouTube channel, the legendary player said, “One hundred percent, you need to start thinking ahead (if India don’t do well in Australia). If Rohit Sharma doesn’t do well, I think he will resign himself.” from Test cricket, as far as you know, he will only play ODIs. He has already retired from T20I cricket. We must remember that he is also aging.

The 37-year-old attacking opener failed to impress in the Black Caps’ bowling unit. In all three matches, Rohit managed to score just 91 runs, including fifty-odd runs.

Rohit too admitted that the team and himself were not good enough with the bat throughout the series during the post-match press conference.

Ahead of the big series, the big-game player’s form is definitely a concern for the fans and the team.
