Queen Camilla steps down due to illness

Queen Camilla announced she was withdrawing from all royal engagements this week due to a respiratory infection.

After recently touring Australia and Samoa with King Charles, the Queen is following doctors’ advice and taking a short period of rest to aid her recovery.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “Her Majesty the Queen is currently unwell with a respiratory infection for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.”

Expressing her regret, she was forced to cancel her planned appearances, but remains hopeful that she will be well enough to take part in this weekend’s remembrance events as planned.

Royal watchers will be closely monitoring her recovery as she looks forward to resuming her duties.

“It is with deep regret that Her Majesty has had to cancel her events this week, but she sincerely hopes to recover in time to take part in the memorial events planned for this weekend.”

“She apologizes to anyone who may be inconvenienced or disappointed by this decision.”
