Jennifer Lopez Shares Her Holiday Self-Care Routine (Exclusive)

Jennifer LopezA self-care strategy for the holidays comes down to one word: balance.

“I don’t think there’s a busier time of year than the holidays (but) even during the busy holiday season, I try to keep consistency in my routine,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively.

For Lopez’s wellness regimen, that means “sticking to my skin care routine even when I’m tired, taking time to exercise to stay energized, and finding moments to relax and recharge, whether through a little affirmation or a little mindful breathing.” meditate for a couple of minutes in the morning,” she says.

The star who is currently promoting her upcoming film Unstoppable (in theaters December 6) and whose brand is JLo Beauty just launched a range of holiday kitsalso finds time for “pampering” and even a little TV watching.

“As soon as the kids go to bed, I say, okay, it’s my time. Put my mask on. Look Great British cooking show or whatever happens, she talks about her “quiet evenings.”

And I’m really looking forward to those times when I can be with my sisters and just relax and have fun and create new memories.”

Lopez describes the holidays as an opportunity to “slow down” and “enjoy” being together. “We don’t see each other all year round, so we’re kind of aware of what everyone is doing and what life is like. It’s just a great time. I really like it.”

The star is also looking forward to the fun this season will bring. “I love all the decorations, hot chocolate, music and food, and I’m one of those people who really tries to turn it all into a storybook for my kids. I love the holidays,” she says.

With the New Year just around the corner, Lopez hopes to not only maintain a sense of balance, but also grow. “I think a lot of it has to do with connecting more deeply with ourselves and with God,” she explains, continuing, “checking in with ourselves so that we can be of service to everyone we love around us.”
