So when will the polls close? This depends on where you live and may vary by county or time zone.

Here are the poll closing times by state in the US (*Due to differences in closing times in some states depending on the county or polling place, it is always best to check with your local or state election office for closing times):

  • Alabama: 7:00 pm local time/8:00 pm ET (all polls close by 8:00 pm ET; local polls close at 7:00 pm depending on county)
  • Alaska: 20:00 local time / 1:00 eastern time.
  • Arizona: 7:00 pm local time/9:00 pm eastern time.
  • Arkansas: 7:30 pm local time/8:30 pm eastern time.
  • California: 20:00 local time / 23:00 eastern time.
  • Colorado: 7:00 pm local time/9:00 pm eastern time.
  • Connecticut: 20:00 local time/20:00 eastern time.
