Latest US election: Harris makes surprise stop in Washington as Trump reveals election night plans | US News

Will the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement live or die with Donald Trump?

That’s the question we here at Sky News asked former Trump White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

In an interview hosted by Saxo, Mr. Scaramucci discussed the prospect of another Republican, such as J.D. Vance, picking up where Mr. Trump left off if he loses this election.

“I don’t think Vance can carry the baton,” he said.

“He’s an articulate guy, but I think he’s too close to Donald Trump at the moment and I think he’ll be consumed by heatstroke, which means if Trump explodes, he’ll be gutted.

If Trump wins, Vance will be “destroyed” just like Mike Pence was after the 2020 election, he added.

“Vance is too close to Donald Trump and he’s finished. He’ll never be able to get out of this.”

What then will happen to the party if Mr. Vance fails to “pick up the torch”?

“The era of the party of Mitt Romney and John McCain is over,” Mr. Scaramucci said.

“Now you have this mixed party of MAGA and far-right cultural issues with the normal principles of the public Republican Party.”

So who will raise it?

“If you poll these people, they like Tucker Carlson the most, they see him as the leader of the party.

“I don’t think Vance can be the leader of the party, and I don’t think the Republican Party under Trump, in other words, can be a MAGA movement and Trumpism can’t hold.

“It’s a cult of personality. So I don’t know what will come after it, but it won’t be like this.”
