Last day for nominating candidates in the National Assembly election campaign

Today is the last day to nominate candidates for the Nova Scotia provincial election campaign.

Under the provincial Elections Act, nominations must close 20 days before Election Day on Nov. 26.

The Progressive Conservatives confirmed in a press release last week that they would have a full field of 55 candidates.

The NDP and Liberals confirmed Tuesday they will have a full slate of candidates, although there has been no word from the Green Party.

Liberal Leader Zach Churchill plans to announce a housing development in Halifax, and NDP Leader Claudia Chander plans to hold an event in the Halifax area today.

Progressive Conservative Party leader Tim Houston will campaign in a suburb of Halifax Regional Municipality.

At the time of dissolution, the Progressive Conservatives had 34 seats in the 55-seat legislature, the Liberals 14, the NDP six and one independent.
