DHAKA, November 6, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman today called on all forces of the country side by side with the interim government to remain vigilant and resist any conspiracy by the evil forces defeated in the student-led mass uprising.

He made the call while speaking as the chief guest at the BNP discussion on the occasion of the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7 at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) in the capital on a virtual platform.

Tarique Rahman urged the party leaders and workers to earn the trust and love of the people, stay with the people and keep them with them.

“The BNP will definitely win if people are given the chance to exercise their right to vote in free and fair elections,” he said.

The acting BNP chairman said that in the current situation in the country, the conspiracy by the allies of the fugitive dictator to derail the interim government is still ongoing.

“Though the mafia government clung to power without holding elections, it used tactics to make Bangladesh a terrorist state in the world,” he added.

Expressing his concern, Tariq Rahman said that the evil forces on August 5, having lost power, are now again trying to glorify Bangladesh as a communal state in the world.

“Therefore, all the forces of Bangladesh along with the interim government must remain vigilant and vigilant to prevent the conspiracy of the defeated evil forces on August 5,” he said.

A day later, he said that the interim government would be three months old, and these three months were not enough to discuss their progress.

Under the chairmanship of BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, party standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Abbas, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and other leaders of the BNP’s Dhaka city unit and associated party organizations also spoke.

Mirza Fakhrul said that November 7 is not just a day, but a history of protecting the history of independence and sovereignty.

Martyred President Ziaur Rahman laid the foundation for the development of Bangladesh and Begum Khaleda Zia led the BNP to power in the 90s by overthrowing the dictatorial regime by following the dream and vision of Ziaur Rahman, he said.

“We got rid of fascism, but we need to look to the future. We respect and trust Dr. Yunus. We hope he will bring back democracy through elections,” he said.

Former Dhaka University lecturer Prof. Mahbub Ullah said, “We must extract the essence from the historical event of November 7th. We must take an oath that not a single fascist will be allowed into the country. Since the crisis is not over yet, unity is needed. In the coming days, policymakers will have to think again.”

BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said that November 7 is a very important event for the nation.

Noting that Ziaur Rahman established nationalism and multi-party democracy in Bangladesh, he said, “But for the last 17 years, the Sheikh Hasina government has not allowed us to celebrate this day.”

Mirza Abbas noted that Ziaur Rahman’s family led the country throughout the crisis period. “On November 7, we saw how much people loved Ziaur Rahman. But at that time he did not have a political party,” he said.

Dr Abdul Moin Khan said on November 7 that the people of the country have entrusted Ziaur Rahman with the responsibility of establishing democracy.
By fulfilling this duty, Ziaur Rahman brought the country to its rightful place in the world.

Nazrul Islam Khan said that on November 7 there was a change in political course in the country.

“People don’t remember all the changes. November 7 changed everything in Bangladesh. People have made Ziaur Rahman a superhero,” he said.
According to him, November 7 is a day that is etched in the minds of the country’s residents.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that the fascist Sheikh Hasina left the country, but the country has not yet created a level playing field.
“Hasina said development comes before democracy,” he said.

He demanded a speedy election to return ownership of the country to its owners, the people.
