Medical review of Wednesday’s injury report.

Medical review of Wednesday’s injury report.

The wet Lambeau Field likely helped the Lions play a healthy game by slowing everyone down and allowing their legs to slip out of dangerous situations, as was the case with Jameer Gibbs. There were some minor concerns about the game, but the only one on the report Wednesday was Jalen Reaves-Maybin.

There was plenty of other positive news this week as the Lions welcomed back several players including Emmanuel Moseley, Ifeta Melifonwu and Za’Darius Smith.

The Texans were without two very important players on Wednesday: Nico Collins and Will Anderson.

Detroit Lions

Neck Jalen Reaves-Maybin LB (NP)

What appeared to be a shoulder injury in the video is actually listed here as a neck injury. Most likely, this is just a stretch of soft tissue. A more serious problem may be problems with the spine or nerves. It is encouraging that he was cleared to return to the game late due to the kick, suggesting there is no evidence of spinal problems.

Malcolm Rodriguez LB (NP) ankle

Rodriguez suffered a sprained left ankle early in the Titans game and missed the final game. Although the sprain is reported to be minor, the NP thinks it’s unlikely we’ll see one this weekend.

Josh Pascal DE (FP) illness

Pascal provided clarity on the “disease” today, describing it as a non-cancerous growth in the shoulder that was removed. The good news is that this is not related to his melanoma that appeared in 2018. Pascal missed two games, but is ready to take the field this Sunday. There are no long-term concerns here.

Emmanuel Moseley CB (FP) player

In August, Moseley tore his pec and was out for the entire year. His 21-day training window opened Wednesday, allowing him to track C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s 16-week chest schedule last year. Expect Moseley to appear around Thanksgiving.

Ifetu Melifonwu S (FP) ankle joint

Melifonwu has been sidelined since mid-pre-season with a suspected Achilles problem. His 21-day training window opened today, which is a good sign that he will be available later this month.

Za’Darius Smith, DE (NP) personal

Just acquired from the Browns this week, Smith could get a personal bye week as the Browns haven’t had a bye yet and the Lions already have a bye. There’s nothing to worry about even if he misses the game.

Knee Sione Waki RB (FP)

Waki injured his knee late in the Titans game and missed the final game. The injury is not visible in the video. FP means he has recovered and is ready to go.

Ankle Mekhi Wingo DT (FP)

Wingo is believed to have injured his ankle in training last week and missed the last game. FP confirms the injury is minor and he will be ready for Sunday.

Broadrick Martin’s knee DT (FP)

Martin enters the second week of his 21-day training window recovering from a hyperextension of his right knee in August. Expect Martin to sit out the game against the Texans.

noble people

Jameson Williams returns from a two-game suspension.

Jamir Gibbs was overturned during a tackle on the last play, putting him in danger of spraining his left ankle and hyperextending his right knee. The great news is that he is completely absent from the coverage.

Carlton Davis he may have had a sting in his right hand in the last game. The good news is he avoided any shoulder or chest injuries.

Penei Sewell He appears to have suffered a mild right lower ankle sprain against the Packers, which was not serious enough to be included in the report. No worries for Sunday.

HOUSTON TEXANS

Nico Collins WR (NP) hamstring

The Texan’s No. 1 WR was placed on IR after straining his hamstring in Week 5. Because hamstrings can easily deteriorate, a gradual return to play is recommended. So NP will likely keep him out of action on Wednesday against the Lions.

Will Anderson DE (NP) ankle

In the video, the star pass rusher suffered a left ankle sprain last game. With high ankles, the recovery time may take longer than expected (see Micah Parsons), so there’s a good chance he’ll be sidelined on Sunday.

Shoulder Kenyon Green OG (NP)

Starting LG injured his shoulder in the last game and is reportedly out for the year. Kendrick Green replaced him in the last game.

noble people

Stefan DiggsWR, out for the year with correct ACL.

Mario Edwardswho started as a DT serves his suspension and is out of the game.
