From the boulevard to the museum exhibition in Toruń

The first phase of archaeological work being carried out at the Holy Spirit complex on Philadelphia Boulevard is being completed. What was found is documented and will appear in a photo exhibition at the District Museum.

The photographs will show architectural proposals discovered, technical solutions used primarily for flood protection, as well as wooden structures at the Monastery Gate, most likely dating back to the earliest stage of the founding of the church, monastery and hospital.

– In addition to the sacred complex of the Holy Spirit, the discovered remains of the use of this place in the 18th and 19th centuries (the so-called Little Fishermen) will be presented. In the showcases we plan to display a large number of movable monuments obtained during the research: stone slabs from hypocaust, shaped bricks, ceramic vessels, household items. We will present the history of this place against the background of the turbulent history of the Benedictine nuns, based on the Chronicle of the Benedictine Nuns of Toruń. – explains Leszek Kucharski from the archeology department of the District Museum in Toruń.

The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for September/October 2025.

Post-plein air exhibition 16. “Art Park” in Bolesławiec.

The 16th plein air painting “Art Park” was lucky enough to once again take place on the territory of the hotel complex of the Klitschkow Castle near Bolesławiec,

Thanks to the cooperation and support of the Center for Culture and Art in Wroclaw – Cultural Institution of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, the Pro Culturae Bono Foundation and the Bolesławiec Cultural Center – International Center for Ceramics.

10 artists from Lower Silesia and other countries were invited to participate. Artists who traditionally lived and worked in the complex belonging to the Klitschków Castle Conference and Leisure Center took advantage of the greenery of the Lower Silesian forests and had the opportunity to visit the picturesque surroundings of the town of Bolesławiec, learn about the history of the place and enjoy the charm of nature.

Plein air is 10 artists, 10 worldviews of representatives of different generations, as well as 10 days of stay, 10 evenings, where one could have long conversations about art and life. These days allowed you to slowly open up to each other, get to know each other, get to know each other, talk, remain silent, observe “with impunity” and freely confront yourself with other artists. Working in the studio, as you might guess, is observing yourself, at the level of your personal horizons. Meeting 10 artists in a space outside the comfort zone of your own studio provides (not necessarily) the opportunity for a broader perspective, an exchange of thoughts, images, experiences. A synergy between group and community is created. The curator of the plein air is Krystyna Szczepaniak.

The culmination of the plein air will be an exhibition at the Bolesławiec Cultural Center – International Center for Ceramics, to the opening of which we cordially invite you on November 8, 2024 at 18:00. The works will be available for viewing at W Sam times until November 24, 2024 during the opening hours of the FORUM cinema.
