Ipswich Town News: Mark Ashton Dating Howard Webb

Negotiations held between Ipswich Town and the PGMOL refereeing panel following a controversial VAR decision will remain “confidential”, the club have said.

Tractor Drivers chief executive Mark Ashton has said Premier League football has “deteriorated” since the introduction of video assistant referees (VARs).

He spoke about the new refereeing tool in an interview on BBC Suffolk’s Blue Hour program after Town were denied a penalty in the 1-1 draw against Leicester City after Abdul Fatawa appeared to push Conor Chaplin.

Ashton has since welcomed PGMOL chief Howard Webb to Portman Road to discuss what the Ipswich boss believed was a lack of consistency in VAR decisions.

A PGMOL spokesman said: “The contents of the meeting between us and Ipswich Town will remain confidential.”

Ashton and Webb agreed to meet after the pair had an “interesting conversation” hours after the team’s home draw with the Foxes.

“All I need is consistency,” Ashton said. “Right now I’m confused.

The BBC asked the club if an agreement had been reached between Ashton and Webb, but was told the conversation “remains confidential”.
