The major cruise line is giving loyalists new gifts, including upgrades.

MSC Cruises fans will soon receive more benefits for their loyalty.

The line announced Thursday it will add another level to its MSC Voyagers Club loyalty program. The new Blue Diamond level will be the highest level that frequent MSC cruisers can achieve, requiring 25,000 points or more.

The Blue Diamond membership level provides embarkation day benefits such as flexible check-in times, priority boarding and baggage drop-off at the MSC Yacht Club check-in counter. On board, top tier members can access My Choice Dining, which allows them to dine at any time during the opening hours of their assigned main dining room.

Benefits also include a free Browse Wi-Fi package for one device per participant, free port transfer (where available), free behind-the-scenes tour (on select ships), private meeting with the captain and priority service. access to tender vessels when the vessel is anchored near a port of call.

In addition, Blue Diamond members will receive the highest priority for upgrades when available.

Existing levels of the MSC Voyagers Club MSC Cruises loyalty program are Classic, Silver, Gold and Diamond, and Blue Diamond members will also receive all the benefits available to lower tier members. These include a free bottle of champagne, early access to shows, a free specialty restaurant tasting menu, a free one-hour thermal spa session and late check-out.

The number of MSC Voyagers Club points you can earn depends on the length of your cruise and which MSC Cruises “experience” you book. (The line offers four experiences—Bella, Fantastica, Aurea and MSC Yacht Club—each with different inclusions and price points.) You can also earn points by prepaying for things like spa services and dining packages.

To reach the next Blue Diamond level with the Bella experience (the line’s most basic package), you’ll need to take approximately 36 nine-night cruises (earning 700 points for each cruise). Longer cruises or more expensive experiences will help you reach the next level faster.

Another new benefit of the MSC Voyagers Club is that the program has extended the membership period from three to five years. You only need to cruise once every five years to maintain your current membership level and earn points toward higher membership levels.

The updated loyalty program is available immediately and US passengers booking through US booking portals will be automatically enrolled. If you are not already a member of the MSC Voyagers Club, you can register without a current reservation. Registration will give you immediate access to discounts of up to 20%.

It is important to note that you can only achieve Blue Diamond status by traveling on line and cannot achieve Blue Diamond status through MSC Voyagers Club status match program.
