Packers in Week 10 NFL power rankings: Here’s where they sit.

play

Green Bay Packers continued to battle their NFC North rivals last Sunday. But despite consistently losing 7-1 at home to the Detroit Lions, the team Packers are still among the top 10 teams in most NFL power rankings.

Four of the Packers’ six wins have come against AFC South teams and are 0-2 against teams in their own division. They dropped six spots in one power ranking after the loss to the Lions.

With Jordan Love looking shaky with a groin injury, many reporters have noted that the timing of the Packers’ bye week is optimal.

Here’s a quick look at where the Packers stand heading into Week 10:

ESPN, eighth place

Defeat to the Lions dropped them four places from fourth. Rob Demovsky says The rematch with the Lions on Dec. 5 is their biggest game remaining on the schedule:

If the Packers have any chance of winning the NFC North, they probably can’t afford to lose to the current division leaders. They’ve already lost at home to the Lions (7-1) and Vikings (6-2) in the only two division games they’ve played to date, making Thursday night’s rematch in Detroit almost a must-win game.

Athletic, sixth place

The Packers dropped three spots and, with Josh Kendall promised to say something nice For each team this week, he picked the Packers’ defensive improvement:

“Replacing Joe Barry with Jeff Hafley as defensive coordinator was a great move for coach Matt LaFleur. The Packers ranked 23rd in the league in expected defensive points (0.3 per 100 snaps) allowed last season. This year they are eighth (7.3). Holding Detroit to 24 points could be considered a good day at the office, when (not if, remember we’re positive) Jordan Love cuts his turnovers, this defense could make the Packers a contender.”

Yahoo Sports, seventh place

The Packers fell two spots, with Frank Schwab calling their loss to the Lions a “sloppy and uneven effort,” but he might find a silver (is Honolulu blue?) lining:

“It’s quite possible that Green Bay is the second best team in the NFC. There’s also no denying that the Packers are, at best, the second-best team in their division.”

Football Talk, Ninth

Mike Florio led the Packers by a whopping six spots. the team needs to rest this weekend:

“The bye comes at the perfect time because Jordan Love is not inclined to not play, even if he shouldn’t.”

USA TODAY, seventh

Nate Davis moved Green Bay down just one spot and noted that Love needs a little more time to recover. Davis also questioned the Packers’ trade for Preston Smith.:

“In a curious decision for a contending team to sacrifice veteran passing depth, Preston Smith went to Pittsburgh. But it should significantly expand the role of 2023 first-rounder Lucas Van Ness.”

CBS Sports, eighth place

Pete Prisco knocked the Packers down by four and the same thing focused on Love’s performance:

“Jordan Love needs to get better. He just didn’t look good against the Lions when the offense struggled. The pick-six before the half was unforgivable.”
