Nothing feels more like roleplaying within an RPG than choosing a backstory for your character. My love for this feature began in Dragon Age: Origins, where elves, dwarves, and humans all had their own unique personal histories, influenced in part by the classes you chose. Not only did this immediately flesh out your Gray Warden and allow you to experience different possibilities in the game, but it also impacted the way the world and its people viewed and responded to you everywhere. Mass Effect also did something similar in Shepard’s pre-service story; allowing you to decide based on pre-set sources that tell how their story began and what noteworthy events shaped them prior to their adventures aboard the Normandy.

In fact, it has become a core feature in many BioWareRole-playing games have always spoken to me, allowing me to immerse myself in fantasy settings and truly embody different characters. After all these years, I found myself again appreciating the same things about Dragon Age: Guardian of the Veil thanks to the different factions you can choose for Ruk. From the way they provide me with unique dialogue options, to the many comments or responses from others about my affiliation with a certain group, factions offer that immersive role-playing experience that I first fell in love with in Dragon Age. Origin.

Who will you be?

I’ve always loved how Dragon Age Origins’ backstory helps introduce you to the different cultures of Thedas and tells the story of your character and how he so effectively becomes a Gray Warden. Bye Dragon Age: Veilguard Factions do not directly affect how the game begins, just like Origins, they provide the Rook with a backstory that paints a picture of their work within the faction, and what event caused them to step away from the group for a while. work with Varric. Then I quickly began to understand how your personal story affects the rest of your experience. This is reflected in the conversations you have with others, the different views or values you may have depending on your faction, and even the unique choices that will only be available to you if you are a member of a certain group.
