Toddler narrowly escapes injury when bullets hit car in Seattle’s Sandpoint neighborhood

Seattle Police Department detectives are investigating a shooting Thursday afternoon in which bullets narrowly missed a toddler riding in a car seat.

SPD said officers responded to the intersection of Northeast 95th Street and Northeast 35th Avenue shortly before 1 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found one vehicle’s rear window missing and several people, including a toddler, nearby, according to police.

“Individuals stated they were driving in the area when someone in another vehicle opened fire,” SPD said in a news release. “The bullets went through the rear window and hit the seat of the car. Fortunately, the child was not injured.”

SPD said officers are now interviewing witnesses and reviewing video in hopes of identifying a possible suspect.

Police said if you have any information on this case, call 296-233-5000.
