Overnight closures will impact drivers in Overland Park this weekend

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – A complete closure of US 69 north and south will impact drivers in Johnson County this weekend.

The Kansas Department of Transportation said US 69 will be completely closed at 119th Street from 7:00 pm Friday, November 8th until 10:00 am Saturday, November 9th.

KDOT officials said the temporary closure is due to repairs to the 119th Street Bridge.

Although the highway is closed, KDOT said detours will be posted as follows:

  • Northbound US 69 traffic will take the Blue Valley Parkway exit, travel north on Blue Valley Parkway to 119th Street, and then westbound on 119th Street to the US 69 exit at north.
  • Southbound US 69 traffic will take the 119th Street exit and travel eastbound on 119th Street to Blue Valley Boulevard and then take the southbound Blue Valley Boulevard exit to Hwy. US 69 southbound.

The bridge work is part of the Highway 69 project. Work is weather dependent and subject to change.
