Kinberg, co-creator of the animated series. Star Wars Rebels. will also produce films alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

The new trilogy will begin with a fresh story and is not connected to the Skywalker saga, a source said.

Disney has several “Star wars” projects in progress.
