Community shocked after 68-year-old woman found in freezer and roommate arrested

A welfare check on a mobile home park employee ended horribly Wednesday.

There was a woman who was found dead in freezer at her house.

An arrest has been made in connection with the death of a 68-year-old woman who lived at a mobile home park near Nellis and Vegas Valley.

Daniel Roush, who was described as a possible roommate, was arrested at the victim’s home Wednesday.

Roush appeared before a judge Thursday.

Court records show he is charged with open murder.

Marsha Carr, who lives in the area, said she has known the victim for more than six years.

Carr also says, “It’s just scary. We are elderly people. Many of us live alone in the community.”

The victim was often seen walking his dog in the area.

Other neighbors told News3 the victim recently allowed a man and woman to move into the home.

Kyle Pataki lives next door to the victim.

Pataki says he never saw the roommates and didn’t know anyone other than “Monique” lived there.

Lt. Jason Jonasson says, “We’re doing welfare checks, looking for anything consistent with the size of a person, we called a locksmith and found a body that matched the description of the person who lived in the house.”

The identities and cause and manner of death will be released by the coroner.

Roush will next appear in court.
