Talented Longford artists release their superb songbook, The Ross Sisters Sing.

Mercy And Erin Rossotherwise known as Ross Sistersrecently released their new songbook “The Ross Sisters Sing”, which includes as many as 39 songs. When purchased with the book, an exclusive QR code will be available, giving exclusive access to their new album.

We sat down with one half of this dynamic duo, Grace Ross, to talk about the genesis of The Ross Sisters Sing.
“Pauline Flood gave us the idea to do this,” explains Grace. “Initially it was just a book, but then she said, ‘You should make an album,’ and she turned to Paul Gurney, who helped us. with the album.”

“Erin did most of the work,” she recalls, “In terms of preparing the songs and recording, because I was in Dublin most of the time and she was at home.

“The official launch was at the Edgeworthstown Public Library on Thursday (October 24) and it was a little more serious so I was so nervous, but once Erin started singing with me I was just amazing.”

The songs on the album and in the book are a mixture, they are traditional but not what you are used to hearing.

“It’s all old Irish songs about leaving Ireland, and Sean’s songs and ballads,” she explains. “So if you’re leaving Ireland and you’re missing home, these are the songs that will make you miss home.” more.

“There’s a song called ‘Erin Grá mo Chroí’ that Erin sings and it always makes me cry,”

Another song included in the album is “Emigrates Eye,” the theme of emigration is widely present in many of the works of the book and album.

“Now that it’s out, it’s a relief because a lot of work, a lot of time and energy was put into it.”

“I was worried that people wouldn’t think much about it,” she admitted.

Luckily, her fears were proven wrong and the response to the release of The Ross Sisters was stellar.
