Google Slides adds templates for “much faster presentation creation”

After suggesting basic Google Slides themes now has templates that “help users create presentations much faster.”

In Google Slides, the building blocks of a presentation are:

  • Layouts: The way text and images are arranged on a slide.
  • Topics: A preset group of colors, fonts, backgrounds, and layouts.

Templates are “a pre-designed collection of slides with a combination of: themes, layouts, backgrounds, fonts, color schemes, and sample or placeholder content.”

…they help users work with a blank canvas and spend less time designing, allowing them to dive straight into creating compelling content that is visually cohesive and professional.

Next to the plus button/menu on the toolbar, you’ll find a new Templates button. Insert > Templates also allows you to open a sidebar with various options: Investor Presentation, Class Overview, Seminar Presentation, Photo Album, Sales Presentation, Company Overview, Professional Development, Educational Games, Class Project, Product Minimum, Lesson, Design Project, Review course, Portfolio in Bold, Option Suggestion, Game Night, Conference, Strategic Plan and much more.

In general, they are grouped by use cases in business, education and collaboration:

  • Sales presentations, product roadmaps, and strategic plan templates for business users.
  • Lesson plans, book reports, and project report templates for education users.
  • Celebrations of important events, workshops and team game templates for anyone who wants to create a cooperative team.

Google says it will add “even more high-quality slide templates” in the coming months. You can “insert all the slides or just the ones you need before personalizing the template with your own content.”

In the coming weeks, it will be available to “all Google Workspace customers, individual Workspace subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.”
