Violent attacks on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans keep passing in Amsterdam after a football match between Maccabi and Ajax on Thursday evening.

Local authorities and the Israeli Foreign Ministry said ten Israelis have been injured so far in the mayhem, and consulate officials are currently searching hospitals. Three people are reported missing.

Among the missing is 33-year-old Israeli-Bulgarian Guy Avidor, who came to the game from London. His family’s last contact with him was a social media post before the match, and he has been missing for 10 hours since then, according to Walla.

Guy’s family has appealed to the public for help in finding him.

Authorities say the situation has calmed over the past hour and Israelis have been ordered to shelter in place. A Dutch police spokeswoman said 57 people have been arrested so far.

Footage circulating on social media showed fans being beaten, chased with knives and narrowly avoiding being hit by cars. Dutch special forces were sent to respond to the attackers.

According to Maariv, there was at least one attempt to kidnap an Israeli, and many barricaded themselves in shops and buildings.

The Israeli Embassy in the Netherlands is working to resettle Israelis to safety.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was informed of the incident and sent two rescue planes to assist Israeli citizens. The IDF is coordinating the rescue operation and sending cargo planes and two aircraft from the Hercules Squadron with medical and rescue teams.

Israel’s two chief rabbis authorized El Al to fly on the Sabbath to provide vital aid.

The Prime Minister’s Office said Netanyahu was treating the “horrific incident with the utmost seriousness” and called on the Dutch government and security forces to take “strong and swift action against the rioters.”

He spoke with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schuf on Friday morning, asking him to improve security for the Jewish community in the Netherlands.

Prime Minister Chouf wrote on X that he was following the news from Amsterdam “with horror.”

“Completely unacceptable anti-Semitic attacks on Israelis.”

He added that in his conversation with Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister stressed that those responsible would be hunted down and brought to justice.

The National Security Council has issued a new warning to Israelis and Jews in the Netherlands.

“Avoid moving outside and lock yourself in hotel rooms. The externalization of Israeli and Jewish symbols must be avoided.”

By order of the Ministry of Transport, Israir, Arkia and El Al added three rescue flights.

Details of the incident

Several videos showed Israelis jumping into canals to avoid protesters. One video shows a man being pushed to the ground as he shouts at them: “I’m not a Jew.”

“I called my friend and a voice answered me in Arabic,” one man said.

“We are experiencing something we were told in school would never happen again,” another told Maarivu.

The attacks came just hours after the country marked the 86th anniversary of Kristallnacht.

A member of Chabad Amsterdam, who was present at the game, spoke about this. Jerusalem Post“I’m in shock right now and hope this ends soon. I didn’t expect it at all.”

“We will try to help everyone, God willing,” he added.

Israeli fans told journalist Raz Amir that they believed the attack was pre-planned.

According to Amir, the police left the Maccabi Tel Aviv fans alone and did not provide them with any escort from the moment they boarded the train and were taken to their hotels.

“The Dutch police sold us out so that the Arabs could lynch us,” one fan told him after he escaped the attack and arrived at Amsterdam airport wounded and bloodied.

“This is like a PLANNED and ORGANIZED POGROM in Amsterdam,” said the former prime minister. Naftali Bennett posted.

“The fan told journalist Aviva Klompas that they ran over him and pointed a knife at him.

“We were ambushed… The police abandoned us. Every fourth person walking down the street is a Muslim who has come to attack Jews.”
