Martha Stewart’s ex-husband slams her for ‘abusive’ marriage amid Netflix doc scandal

Martha Stewartnew Netflix documentary dives into her tumultuous 29-year marriage Andy Stewart, as well as her ex-husband and his current wife, responded.

In a Facebook postAndy’s wife, Shyla Nelson Stewart, addressed the Netflix doc. Martha. The message, signed by Sayla and Andy, said this would be their “only public comment on this topic.”

“As some of you know, my husband, Andrew Stewart, is a brilliant publisher, a professional naturalist and nature photographer, and one of the most gentle, quiet, kind-hearted men I have ever known,” Shyla wrote. “No one was more surprised than us when, after being introduced as colleagues nearly 12 years ago, our connection blossomed into a deep and everlasting love.”

Shyla went on to say that she and Andy have “built a life full of beauty, meaning, productivity and purpose, filled with true love that we share as fully as we can with our beautiful blended family of five wonderful adult children, our three adorable grandchildren, our extended family and many dear friends.”

Continuing, Shyla stated, “Before this happy chapter in his life, Andy had several dark ones, including a painful and abusive marriage to Martha (as in Martha Stewart) that ended almost 40 years ago. While Andy has quietly moved on with his life, it appears that Martha continues to discuss marriage publicly.”

In the documentary, Martha talks about Andy’s infidelity during their marriage, at one point advising young women that if their husband cheats on them, “he’s a piece of crap.”

In response, Shyla wrote, “The juxtaposition of Andy’s early life with the joy-filled, purposeful, loving marriage we live in today is amazing. Every day we openly express gratitude for our love and our life together.”

Martha and Andy were married from 1961 to 1990 and had a daughter, Alexis, in 1965. In the Netflix documentary, which premiered on October 30, Martha talks about cheating on Andy and also admits that she once cheated on herself. kisses a man in Florence during her and Andy’s honeymoon.

Concluding her post, Shyla wrote, “We both wish everyone, including Martha herself, to deeply and completely love and be loved, and the peace that comes from such love.”

Ahead of the film’s premiere in New York, Marta said: People she hasn’t spoken to Andy in over 20 years and has “no idea” if he’s seen the film.
