Baker Mayfield returned to practice and will start on Sunday

The Buccaneers held practice sessions Wednesday and Thursday before meeting for a full practice Friday, with an important member of the team joining them on the field for the first time this week.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield did not participate in practice with a toe injury but said he was not worried about his availability for Sunday’s game against the 49ers. Mayfield participated in Friday’s practice, and head coach Todd Bowles told reporters the quarterback was available for the weekend.

Reporters at the Bucs’ practice reported that wide receiver Mike Evans was the only player who did not work. Wide receiver Sterling Shepard (hamstring, hip), cornerback Jordan Whitehead (quadriceps) and wide receiver Jalen McMillan (hamstring) missed the last two days of practice.

Friday’s injury report will list any injuries found, but Bowles said Evans (hamstring) is the only player ruled out.
