The former Everton man now has a new name and has won three titles since leaving.

After spending 15 years at Everton, progressing through the academy and making nine first-team appearances, Tyas Browning has enjoyed huge success away from Goodison Park.

Tyas Browning was once a promising talent in Everton before seeing his career change for the better after leaving Goodison Park constantly. Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande paid the Blues £4 million in 2019 after just nine appearances for the club.

Fast forward five years and Browning multiple league champion who played over 30 matches for the Chinese national team. He changed his name to Jiang Guangtai and is eligible to represent China because his maternal grandfather was Cantonese.


Browning has since switched to Guangzhou’s rival, Shanghai Port. Last weekend he won his second league title with his current club, successfully defending his crown.

His teammates include former Chelsea player Oscar, who was part of a wave of players who moved to China seven years ago. Browning’s move also proved financially beneficial.


He earned a multi-million dollar contract playing in Asia. Despite criticism of players who have chosen to leave Europe for the Chinese Super League, the former Everton man insists the standard of play is much higher than many expect.

He previously explained: “There is a lot more competition than people think and fans are extremely passionate about the game of football. There are many things to adapt to on and off the field, with conditions being one of them. of them, but I feel like I’ve adjusted well to it.
