My boyfriend forgot I broke up with him after my concussion

Jenna Brotherson married her now-husband Mitchell seven months after splitting, but only because a concussion made him forget they weren’t together.

“When people ask us about our love story, that’s what we like best to tell,” she said.

Jenna and Mitchell, now 27, were friends for several months before they started dating.

But in February 2020, Jenna ended her relationship with her then-boyfriend because she was “too overwhelmed with life.”

The next day, Mitchell was skiing at Beaver Mountain in Utah when he tried to roll over, lost consciousness and woke up while paramedics were rushing him to the hospital.

He suffered a severe concussion and immediately called Jenna and asked her to pick him up because he couldn’t drive.

“I was like, ‘Why is he texting me this?’ I just broke up with him,” Jenna recalled in a video posted to TikTok.

It turns out that due to a concussion, Mitchell forgot that they had parted ways.

“Mitch kept texting me and trying to hang out after his concussion, and I didn’t understand why he kept texting me since we broke up,” she said. told people.

“I thought maybe he was very serious about being friends. It even got to the point where I told him that my roommates and I were having a rough day and he came over and brought us ice cream.”

Jenna quickly realized that she had made a mistake by ending her romance with Mitchell and appreciated how “kind and caring” he continued to be.

“I was nervous about swallowing my pride and asking if he would date again,” Jenna said, recalling how she received a text from Mitchell asking to hang out the day she returned from spring break.

When Jenna finally asked him to get back together, she realized that he had no idea they weren’t together.

“I was like, ‘Why is he texting me this?’ I just broke up with him,” Jenna recalled in a video posted to TikTok.

She talked about their breakup, and although Mitchell remembered talking to her in the car that day, he couldn’t remember what the conversation was about.

“He thought it was very funny and I was relieved. It made it easier for us to get back together because to him we were never apart!” Jenna shared.

Five months later, the couple became engaged. Less than three weeks later, they married on September 4, 2020.
