During Sirianni’s morning briefing, the coach asked why Jalen Hurts was listed as limited and rested on the injury report earlier this week, as there was no information on why that might be the case. A reporter asked, “We’ve never seen Jalen held up for workload management before. What was behind this on Wednesday?”

Confused, Sirianni responded, “Yes, (Hurts) had a case… it was on the injury report. Worked on my ankle. And, you know, making sure we were careful with everything.” Almost immediately, reporters commented, “He wasn’t on the ankle injury report,” and “Sorry, Jalen Hurts, was it an ankle injury?”

At this point, Sirianni did not seem to understand what he was being asked and said: “It was a vacation, yes. Sorry. I thought you were talking about something else.” It’s unclear what the Eagles coach might have thought he was asked, as the context appears clear in the video of the press conference.

Sirianni ultimately denied that Hurts had an ankle problem and reiterated that the player was “resting,” although the original question he was asked then remained unanswered.

Hurts was listed as limited in practice Wednesday as “rest” was cited as the reason for his reduced participation. The quarterback returned to full practice Thursday and there appear to be no major concerns regarding his availability for the upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys.

However, Sirianni’s comments could raise questions about Hurts’ ankle ahead of the game.
