One-on-one interview with Senator Susan Collins

One-on-one interview with Senator Susan Collins

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Now that Election Day has passed, WABI sat down with Senator Susan Collins to talk to her about the results, the soon-to-be GOP-controlled Senate and working with the new administration.

While many are looking forward to change, other Americans are concerned about the future and issues such as inflation, reproductive rights and education.

Collins says he hears most about the cost of living when he talks to Mainers about what has impacted their daily lives.

When asked where she thinks the Democratic Party has lost in the presidential race, she mentioned Senator Bernie Sanders.

“I thought it was ironic that Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont, who is an extremely liberal man, and I disagree with him on a lot of issues, but he said that the Democratic Party has abandoned working people in this country, and I think that this is ironic. if you look at the vote and analyze it, it’s right,” Collins said.

“They felt there was too much focus on issues that didn’t impact their daily lives.”

Collins says she plans to approach the Trump administration like any other, with talks across the aisle and efforts to help Mainers thrive.
