US Coast Guard suspends search; swimmer still missing at Outlook Beach

HAMPTON, Va. – UPDATE: The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search for the missing person around 8 p.m., the Coast Guard posted on Facebook.

A swimmer went missing at Outlook Beach at Fort Monroe in Hampton, prompting a search by the U.S. Coast Guard on Friday.

Around 4 p.m., U.S. Coast Guard Sector Virginia officials said they were working with local emergency services to locate the missing swimmer. They said the swimmer was African American and was wearing blue swim trunks.

The man did not return to the surface after he sank, the Coast Guard said.
