Kentucky takes next step toward legalizing medical marijuana

KENTUCKY (WFIE) – The first medical marijuana business licenses in Kentucky were issued during the lottery Monday afternoon in Louisville.

A cultivator license allows the holder to grow medical marijuana and sell medical marijuana to a licensed processor, manufacturer, or medical marijuana dispensary.

Kaldem Holdings in Muhlenberg County was named as the recycler.

While CW Bluegrass, LLC in Davis County and Slaughter Branch LLC in Hopkins County were named Tier 1 cultivators.

The legislation signed by Gov. Andy Beshear last year will make medical cannabis legal in the commonwealth on Jan. 1 of next year.
