World Series 2024: New York Gov. Kathy Hochul warns Yankees and Dodgers fans to beware of ticket scams

NEW YORK (WABC) — New York Governor Kathy Hochul has a message for baseball fans looking to buy last-minute World Series tickets.

The governor warned fans Monday to be aware of possible cheating when the Yankees and Dodgers meet in New York for Games 3, 4 and 5.

“As demand grows for the opportunity to witness this historic match, I encourage New Yorkers to protect their hard-earned money and be on the lookout for potential ticket scams,” Hochul said.

Some tips to avoid becoming a victim include purchasing only from the venue or purchasing from trusted sources.

Fans are encouraged to check the seller for Verified by TicketSource.com to confirm that they are buying from a resale company that is a member of the National Association of Ticket Brokers.

They are also advised to use secure payment methods, be skeptical of prices that seem too good to be true, and use a strong password when using the app.

Fans can also contact State Department of Consumer Protection for assistance or to file a complaint.
