Parents say the search continues

Two years after Bryce Borka went missing from Eagan, some people may think his parents “must be doing better,” but on Wednesday they said their “grief will always be the same as it was on Oct. 30, 2022.” year” for the last time. the day the young man was seen.

Their grief “Quieter, less harsh and a little more private,” Troy and Karina Borka said in a statement. “…Life continues to be rebuilt around this grief, and we learn to coexist with it. It wasn’t our plan—it was God’s plan.”

Borka’s last known locationwho was 23 at the time, was at Fort Snelling State Park at the end of Yankee Doodle Road in Eagan. He tried to go home after a party with friends, but he was not found.

Bork’s family shared an update on the search Wednesday: “There has been a lot of activity in the past year, such as ground searches with dogs, in-water searches with divers and cameras, searches in swampy mud and attempts to follow up on any leads, but no more answers.”

“This is not for lack of effort or innovative thinking,” they continued. They thanked Eagan police for their ongoing efforts, as well as the professional search and rescue teams “who do dirty, hard work in dangerous terrain. We will always be grateful for the attempt to bring answers to our family.”

Eagan police previously said there were no signs of foul play in Borka’s disappearance, and they said Wednesday that remains the case.

There are no upcoming searches planned, according to Eagan Police Sgt. Rich Evans.

“As with any matter, we value and investigate any public tips and information sent to our agency,” he said.

What is known about the disappearance

On October 30, 2022, Borka drove back to Eagan. Friends said they drank on the party bus.

A hitchhiker dropped Borka and two friends off in the 3200 block of Hill Ridge Drive in Eagan at 2:08 a.m., according to a search warrant affidavit previously filed by police to collect Borka’s electronic devices for evidence that would help find him. .

Borka left to return to his residence in the 3400 block of Promenade Avenue in Eagan, about two miles away. At 2:34 a.m. on Oct. 30, 2022, Borka spoke to friends via FaceTime and said his phone had 2 percent battery left and he didn’t know where it was. The video appears to have been filmed in a densely wooded area.

He shared his location from his phone: he was in a wooded area off Minnesota Highway 13, on the opposite side of his apartment. The conversation ended and his friends assumed his phone had run out of battery.

The search covered acres of territory and many tips were received, including surveillance video from residents and businesses in the area.

Help for other families

Troy and Karina Borka announced last year that they started Bryce’s Blessinga non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the memory of his son and supporting other families experiencing the loss of a child.

In a statement on Wednesday they wrote: “Two years. We can’t believe it’s been so long since we’ve seen Bryce’s infectious smile or heard his sweet voice.
