Dragon Age The Veilguard Romance Guide

There are four main steps you need to take to romance a companion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard:

  • Increase your companion’s Bond and complete his quests.
  • Select the “flirt” option at least a few times.
  • Dedicate yourself to a companion.
  • Watch their “romantic” scene.

You can flirt with as many companions as you want, up to the point where you reach a scene that forces you to initiate or end your affair with them. You’ll know you’re rejecting the romantic path when a broken heart symbol appears in the dialogue options.

So feel free to flirt with anyone who catches your attention if you can’t make a decision right away.

How to flirt with people you’re talking to

All you have to do is choose a heart symbol when he appears on the dialogue wheel to flirt with a companion. Once you do this, you won’t start a romance right away, so don’t worry about getting close to multiple dates at once.

There are also opportunities to experience more unique “flirting” than just exchanges of dialogue, so be sure to follow through with these scenes in a flirtatious manner if you want to develop a romantic relationship with the person who initiates them.

How to dedicate yourself to a companion

As long as you follow the companion’s quest line and flirt with him, you’ll eventually end up in a romantic scene with the option to join him, usually around the chapter 10 mark (if you’ve been keeping up with the story while completing the companion’s quest). However, keep in mind that this is just a general guideline, your commitment scene may open a little earlier or later!

Attachment to a companion stops potential romances with other people, and as far as we can tell, there is no way to break up with someone and later meet another companion. So make sure you really want to be with this person when the opportunity arises.

Remember: you’ll know you’re rejecting the romantic path when the broken heart symbol appears in the dialogue options.

How to get a romantic scene

Approaching your life partner is not the end of the affair as you will continue to experience small moments with him after you confirm that you want to be in a relationship with him.

Then, in true BioWare style, you get a “romantic scene”. towards the end of the game, before the final battle. So all you have to do is make sure that you connect with the companion to the end so that you can have a naughty night with him. And if you want to make it extra NSFW, don’t forget to turn on the nudity in the settings.
