Hennen: Governor Walz and his ties to China – InForum

The most important decision a candidate for President of the United States makes is who he chooses to be vice president. The fact that Kamala Harris chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate should tell you everything you need to know about her incompetence.

One story about Walz that hasn’t received enough media attention is his ties to China. Just this week, a US House committee investigating Walz’s “extensive interactions with China” reported that they had received information from a whistleblower that showed US Department of Homeland Security officials discussing “the CCP’s targeting of Governor Walz.”

The chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, Rep. James Comer, announced in August that they were launching an investigation.

“Mr. Walz has visited China dozens of times, worked as a research fellow for a Chinese organization that remains loyal to the CCP, and spoke with the president of a Chinese organization that the State Department exposed as an attempt by the CCP to influence and co-opt local leaders,” Comer said.

Since then, the committee has repeatedly asked DHS for information related to Walz and China. In September, a subpoena was issued seeking documents, communications and intelligence reports in DHS’s possession related to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s ties to the Chinese Communist Party. As is typical of the Biden administration, Comer said this week that DHS “has not responded to the subpoena.”

Now Alpha News reports: “Comer sent a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas releasing “a small portion” of the information his committee received from the whistleblower. Specifically, Comer posted a screenshot of an internal message among DHS employees in which one DHS Member says: “Walt (sic) got VP. You have no idea how this affects what the PRC (People’s Republic of China) is doing here with him and the local government. This is a serious intelligence line. someone who thinks he can get to Washington.”

According to Comer, the report “shows DHS officials with subject matter expertise discussing, on the same day that Vice President Kamala Harris selected Governor Walz as her vice presidential running mate, targeting the CCP at Governor Walz.”

This whole thing stinks to high heaven. And the cover-up continues. Besides, Harris could have easily avoided this mess.

Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania would be the best vice presidential candidate without the baggage. His state will likely decide the fate of the presidential race. If the Harris/Walz ticket loses Pennsylvania and ultimately the presidency, expect her VP’s decision to play a big role in the posthumous criticism of her campaign. Shapiro won his 2022 race for governor by a landslide. He is highly respected as an effective fighter and messenger. He is also an observant Jew. Apparently this was a bridge too far for Harris. She could not risk offending the growing anti-Jewish and pro-Palestinian wing of the Democratic Party.

I’m also not sure Harris would want her running mate to risk eclipsing her. At least in Walz she found someone who had zero risk of making her look bad.
