Kamala Harris makes a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live

vice president Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live, the show’s final episode before the election.

Harris appeared during the cold open alongside Maya Rudolph, who regularly portrays Harris.

In the opening sketch, Rudolph, who plays Harris, lamented, “I wish I could talk to someone who was in my shoes,” before turning to the mirror where the vice president herself appeared, dressed similarly.

“I’m just here to remind you: You got this,” Harris said. “Because you can do something your opponent can’t do: you can open doors.”

The phrase was an obvious jab at Trump, who stumbled as he opened the door of a garbage truck earlier this week at a campaign stop that was part of the trick pursuing President Joe Biden’s comments.

“Take my palm-ala,” Rudolph Harris later ordered, improvising her name. “The American people want to stop the chaos.”

“And finish with a drum-aloo,” Harris added as they both continued the riff.

“Because what do we always say?” – asked Rudolf.

“Keep calm-ala and carry on-ala,” they said in unison as the crowd cheered.

At one point, Rudolph laughed and Harris responded, “I don’t really laugh that much, do I?

“A little,” replied Rudolf.

It was hosted by actor and comedian John Mulaney and featured musical guest by Chappell Roane.

Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., also made a surprise appearance during a skit where game show contestants had to name a famous person.

“Hi! I was Hillary Clinton’s running mate. You said at the time that this was the most important election in American history and that democracy was at stake. It’s been less than eight years. What’s my name?” – Kane said.

Mulaney, as one of the participants, was unable to identify him. He also failed to say Kane’s name a second time, even though the senator had introduced himself minutes earlier.

Harris’ cameo on the long-running variety series took her to New York, away from the battleground states she visited in the final leg of the campaign. On Saturday, Harris held a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Jason Miller, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, said “SNL” has been “crushing” her all season and being on the show is “crazy.”

Asked by reporters if the show had invited Trump as a guest, he replied: “Probably not. I don’t know”.

A representative for “Saturday Night Live” did not respond to a request for comment on whether it had invited Trump to speak.

Harris expressed admiration for Rudolph’s portrayal of her.

“Maya Rudolph — I mean, she’s so good,” Harris said of her impression on “The View” last month, also praising her “manners.” “She had everything: a suit, jewelry, everything!”

Presidential candidates from both major parties have appeared on “SNL” in recent years.

Trump hosted the show in November 2015.prompting a demonstration by hundreds of protesters who opposed his comments about undocumented immigrants. A month earlier, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton played a cameo role in the series and impersonated Trump.

Barack Obama too starred in a cameo role in 2007, when he was running for the Democratic presidential nomination. The following year, then-Gov. Sarah Palin appeared on the show just weeks before the election as the Republican vice presidential candidate.
