Trump says ‘I don’t mind’ if someone has to shoot the media

Lititz, Pennsylvania – Former President Donald Trump said during rally on Sunday that he wouldn’t mind if someone tried to shoot through the media stand to kill him while he complained that bulletproof glass the situation around him was “ridiculous.”

“I have a piece of glass here and I don’t have a piece of glass there. And I have this piece of glass here, but all we really have here is fake news,” Trump said, pointing to the glass located between him and the front riser where the press was located. “And to catch me, someone will have to shoot down the fake news. And I’m not really against it. I don’t mind that.”

Throughout the rally, he repeatedly mocked the media and reporters, calling them “bloodsuckers.”

Trump’s comments came as he spoke about the bulletproof glass surrounding him at outdoor rallies, a measure that was passed after assassination attempt in Butler, PennsylvaniaJuly 13. A. Trump’s ear was hit by a bullet at a Butler rally and one of the spectators was killed. Secret Service Snipers killed the shooter. Two months after the Butler shooting, another man was arrested with a firearm and charged with attempted assassination of Trumpthis time at his golf course in Florida.

“The problem is, when you look at me tonight, you’ll say, ‘The President doesn’t look that good.’ So how the hell do you look good? Look at the size of this idiot,” Trump said, about to assess the thickness of the glass.

Trump later said there could be a sniper on the battlefield, recalling his first assassination attempt, and noted that his supporters would be his glass.

“There is glass here. There’s nothing there. This is my glass. Do you see? These people are my glass,” Trump said, pointing to the crowd.

Stephen Chung, Trump’s spokesman, said in a follow-up statement that Trump was trying to protect the media.
