Roy Keane warns Amorim he has three ‘big problems’ he must solve as Manchester United are ‘not going anywhere fast’

Ruben Amorim has been warned he faces a huge task in reviving Manchester United, while a worried Roy Keane has identified three pressing issues that need to be addressed, with Jamie Redknapp also giving a dismal assessment of the state of their team.

The Red Devils have turned to Amorim as a replacement for the sacked Erik ten Hag, with the outgoing Sporting Lisbon coach taking over from next Monday, November 11. Manchester United Having dropped to 13th place and with just three wins in 10 Premier League matches, the respected 39-year-old manager will be hoping the only way forward is to rise to Old Trafford.

However, Keane has sent Amorim a strong message about where United are as a club and says he must find a way to enable the players he inherits to work harder rather than give up when things don’t go their way and score more goals if it means having any chance of success.

“There are a number of players in the United team in high positions who can’t run and that’s a big problem,” Keane said in an interview. Sky Sport. “But there are also players in the team who don’t want to run, and when they do run, they don’t run hard enough, fast enough, long enough, so he has to bring that into the dressing room, that mentality. Players who don’t do this should be tried to be promoted further.

“This team is not working, this is a big problem. They have really talented players, but if you’re not going to run, you’re not going to get anywhere quickly.”

He added: “This group of players don’t dig in when things get tough, they fail, they fail too easily.”

United have just scored nine times in 10 Premier League games and Keane knows that is a big problem too.

“The lack of goals is a huge problem for Manchester United,” Keane added. “Every time I read the table after nine or 10 games minus three goals for Manchester United, it’s hard to read.”

Jamie Redknapp compares Manchester United to ‘pub football’

United are currently minus three goals and also finished last season with a negative record in the pros and cons column, scoring 57 but conceding 58.

“Before the goal it was a tough watch. At times it felt like playing in a pub. From United’s point of view, I’ve seen them play worse this season,” said former Liverpool star Redknapp.

“When I watch United, they play spontaneously. Organization will help, but when I played against the best teams, they really were chaos. They’ve always had this chaos, but I don’t know if they have good habits.”

Despite this, caretaker coach Ruud van Nistelrooy was disappointed his side did not take home the three points after Moises Caicedo equalized shortly after Bruno Fernandes’ first penalty.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t win, we had more chances in the game, but overall it was a fantastic game. They left all their strength on the field,” he said. Sky Sport.

“It was a great moment, a goal where Old Trafford explodes. Bruno Fernandes handled it well and the emotions came out. This week was special and I enjoyed every second of it. I’m here to help, support the new coach and make sure the club grows.

“We support the new manager, everyone at the new club is focused on the two games coming up which are very important, but then we will work hard to make this club better every day.”

Latest Manchester United transfer news: Gjokeres dismisses talk of move / first signing a sensation

One man who could certainly help United’s lack of attacking attack is Sporting star Victor Giokeres, with the Swede having scored more goals already this season than the entire United squad combined.

With 20 goals and four assists in 16 appearances, the Swede is in high demand. although he made it clear that he wanted to remain in the Portuguese capital, at least for a while..

“Are you moving with Amorim to Manchester United? I don’t know,” said Ghiokeres when asked about the possibility of joining Amorim after he scored four goals against Estrela on Friday night.

“I’m here. As you can see, I like it at Sporting.”

“I don’t think about anything at all. I’m sad that he (Amorim) is leaving. We wish him all the best.”

Meanwhile, in Spain they claim that United have ‘opened talks’ on a deal that would make Jamal Musiala the first signing of the Amorim era at Old Trafford.

The Bayern Munich star’s contract expires in the summer of 2026 and negotiations for an extension have yet to yield a positive result. As a result, United are keen to seize the opportunity to bring the playmaker back to English football, although any deal would likely break their club’s record fee.

It is also reported elsewhere that Amorim is ready to give the green light to the return of Benfica defender Alvaro Carreras.

The Red Devils continue to struggle for left-back options but could resolve the issue by including a buyout clause in the Spaniard’s deal – something Amorim is reportedly keen to do.
