Your Ring doorbell has the weirdest new feature, courtesy of Ant and Dec

Imagine a famous comedy TV show where the duo greet visitors to your home with cheeky and hilarious soundbites when someone rings your video doorbell?

Well, you’re in luck, from today onwards, Amazon-owned Ring introduces several new “quick replies” for its video doorbellwhich are voiced by Ant and Dec.

If you’re not familiar with Quick Replies – a feature introduced a while ago – here’s how it works. Once you have the Quick Reply feature activated, you can choose from a variety of pre-recorded messages, this time from Ant and Dec.

When a visitor presses the doorbell, they receive that message and can optionally leave their own message in response (such as a voice message).

Bants and Dec

With the Ring Video Doorbell, you can choose from six quick Ant and Dec responses that provide the expected type of messaging between the two hosts.

Here’s one example:

“Ant: Surprise! Ant and Dec are here and you’re live on TV! Wave to us!”

Dec: We’re just kidding! But you are live on this doorbell, so please leave a message!”

And one more thing:

“Ant: Hey Ant and Dec, luckily Dec is small enough to fit inside the doorbell.”

“Dec: Yes, I’m here! Thanks for stopping by! Someone will come out now.

So, you get the point, quoting another famous TV comedian. However, we’re a little disappointed that there weren’t any mentions of “Prime Minister.”

For the uninitiated, the Ring Video Doorbell can be triggered by motion detection (with varying levels of sensitivity), so the doorbell doesn’t have to be pressed and a two-way call can be made with the person at your door. (via phone so you can communicate with, say, couriers, even if you are not at home).

Other celebrities have given quick answers in the past, like we had Toadfish from Neighbors. (“Good afternoon, buddy, they’re doing good neighborly things, because damn, we all know that ‘everyone needs good neighbors…’)

And also M&M’s, or “Red”, a version of the candy with animated characters, which was introduced this year for Halloween. But at the moment this is the strangest and potentially most popular option.
