Get the most out of Blizzard’s defining class, the Diablo 4 Wizard

Sorcerer has been an iconic character in many Blizzard games (Blizzard itself is a spell in the Sorcerer’s arsenal), and Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred is no exception. If you, like many before you, seek to bend the arcane and elemental forces to your will, this build guide will help, whether you’re just starting out or preparing for the finale.

Beginner Build – Wizard

The idea behind this build is to be a fearsome multi-target melee sorcerer who deals tons of electrical damage and spawns tons of minions (which deal their own damage) without ever having to worry about mana.

You’ll spend mana on Charged Bolt and score frequent critical hits, which will stun enemies and deal more damage while reducing defense and attack cooldowns. Honestly, this is some of the most fun I’ve had in Diablo. Enjoy!

Final build for beginners – Wizard

The idea of this build is to summon a lot of Affliction helpers like Hydra and Familiar that increase your damage. At this point, you’ll use Chain Lightning to hit as many enemies as possible, and they all explode when they die. Use Spark and Ice Armor to restore MP, and then cast Familiar immediately after casting Hydra, Ice Armor or Chain Lightning to summon Fire, Ice or Lightning familiars respectively.

As with all the other builds here, there is a fair amount of flexibility in the use of non-primary points. Increase survivability if you need to, and increase damage if you want. It’s all gravy.

I also highly recommend taking Aldkin with you and taking advantage of his fire damage skills, because the more enemies you burn, the better off you are. I also recommend using Aldkin’s skill, which restores your mana while you’re in the firestorm he creates. More mana means more Chain Lightning.

Fire arrows and lightning. Really, really scary.
