Although Sharda Ji had been battling blood cancer since 2018, the news of her death came about a month after her husband’s. Brij Kishore Sinha passed away. Some reports suggest that Sharda Ji was so shocked by the sudden death of her husband Brij Kishore Sinha due to brain hemorrhage on September 22, 2024, that her health deteriorated in just a few days.
A Tale of Eternal Love
Sharda Sinha and Brij Kishore Sinha were married for 54 long years before death separated them. Earlier this year, the singer posted a video on social media with her husband, reminiscing about their family life together. “By the grace of God, 54 years ago on this day, a journey filled with memorable moments and many stories began with my life partner, revered Sinha Saheb. My heartfelt greetings to you for telling me the most important stories of your life and for always supporting me by being the most important character (in my life) Happy Anniversary,” her Instagram caption read.

For Sharda ji, her husband Brij Kishore Sinha was the wind beneath her wings. It was with his love and support that she followed her passion for singing and fame soon followed. In an earlier interview, Sharda Sinha once recounted how her mother-in-law banned her from singing in public. “We got married in the 1970s and my in-laws’ house was very different from mine… While singing bhajans at home was normal, women from my in-laws’ house were not allowed to sing in public,” she once recalled, ABP reported. However, just five days after she got married and moved to her relatives’ house in Begusarai in Bihar, the village head visited them and, after praising her singing, asked her father-in-law to allow her to sing bhajans in Thakurbari. Her father-in-law gave permission, but her mother-in-law was furious. It was then that her husband Brij Kishore Sinha supported her dreams and convinced her mother to let her sing in public. The rest, as they say, is history and Sharda Sinha became a renowned folk singer over the years.
Most recently, her touching post dedicated to her late husband on her birthday, October 1, 2024, gave a glimpse into the love and respect they had for each other. Remembering her late husband Brij Kishore Sinha, Sharda Sinha shared on Facebook how every year on her birthday, he surprised her by bringing her two roses early in the morning along with snacks for breakfast. Over the years, this has become something of a tradition for them. However, since he is no longer with them, Sharda Sinha expressed her grief and loss in a social media post.
