‘The goal is to win silverware’: Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon ahead of IPL 2025 auction

Ahead of the much-awaited auctions for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, Punjab Kings have announced batters Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh as their players for the upcoming season. Prabhsimran has been playing for Punjab since 2019 and in the last six years, the wicketkeeper has scored 756 runs in 34 games at an average of 22.24 and a strike rate of 146.23. Meanwhile, Shashank emerged as one of the team’s key players last season, scoring an impressive 354 runs in 14 games at an average of 44.25 and a strike rate of 164.65.

Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon said ahead of the IPL auction that the franchise’s goal is to win silverware in the upcoming season. He also praised newly appointed head coach Ricky Ponting and said that he is one of the sharpest minds in cricket.

“This auction will be crucial as we go there with the maximum purse. We will build on what we have at the moment. It will be an interesting auction, especially for us as we also have a new coach in Ricky Ponting. one of the sharpest minds in cricket. You will see us building an outstanding team. Our goal to achieve trophies this year is nothing less than Menon said in the Punjab Kings press release.

He added that the Punjab-based franchise has a lot of confidence in Prabhsimran Singh.

“We have seen Prabhsimran develop over the last six years. This is a player we have a lot of faith in. We have seen him blossom. He played some fantastic innings last year. We believe he is on the cusp of breaking into the big leagues,” he said.

“As for Shashank, he is known for batting at multiple positions in the lineup. He showed his character last season. He continues with the same style and passion. This was one of the main reasons why we kept it. is a fielder and these two players suit us best,” he added.

Earlier this year, the Kings announced Ricky Ponting as head coach for the upcoming season, with Menon hinting that the Australian legend will bring new and fresh ideas to the upcoming auctions. He also added that his team will aim to win the trophy this season.
