BEAVER — After months of campaigning by politicians in Beaver Valley, local communities have decided who they want to serve in state and federal offices.

For Beaver County voters, early results showed Republicans leading in several local races. Although there were some dynamics among these communities, the two races eventually unofficially shifted to Democratic incumbents as well.

Several media outlets named the 17th Congressional District, which covers parts of Beaver and Allegheny counties, as Chris Deluzio Tuesday night. Another race that bucked the red tide in Beaver County was State Rep. Rob Matzie’s victory over challenger Michael Perich.

What was voter turnout in Beaver County?

In Beaver County, voter turnout was reported as 71,497 votes for in-person voting on Election Day and 23,349 votes for mail-in or early voting. While in-person voting was slightly lower than initially expected, going to the polls on Election Day appeared to remain the most popular option in Beaver County.

With over 117,000 registered voters in Beaver County, voter turnout in the region was just over 80%. It was expected turnout reported by the Beaver County Elections Bureau last week..

As of Tuesday evening, not all votes had been officially counted. The Beaver County Bureau of Elections announced Friday that 125 federal absentee ballots were challenged in the county. This amount may not be enough to impact some races, but the challenge is verified promptly.

The review hearing will take place in Beaver County Courtroom 4 at 3 p.m. Thursday, according to the bureau.
