Cuyahoga investigators searching for alleged arson suspects offering reward

Cuyahoga County Investigators with the Department of Commerce State Fire Marshal’s Division (SFM) are asking for the public’s help in finding two people who allegedly set a commercial building on fire in Bedford Heights on Tuesday.

According to investigators, at approximately 1:02 a.m., the Bedford Heights Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a four-story building located at 5311 Northfield Rd.

Upon arrival, authorities said firefighters found fire coming from a first-floor window.

Investigators said crews found multiple people living in the basement of the building.

Everyone was pulled from the high-rise without any injuries, including several children from one of the units, authorities said.

The video footage shows two people entering the building near the first floor window where the fire started, and both leaving the building.

Both people were wearing hoods, masks and gloves. The footage shows at least one of the people holding lighter fluid.

Based on the video and additional information gathered, investigators concluded that the fire was intentionally set.

Blue Ribbon Arson Committee is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Investigators urge anyone with information to call the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728. All advice will be carefully studied.
