ELECTIONS 2024 | Joyce and Reschenthaler re-elected to Congress

ELECTIONS 2024 | Joyce and Reschenthaler re-elected to Congress

The region’s two U.S. House members—Dr. John Joyce, R-Blair, and Guy Reschenthaler, R-Wash.—retained their seats Tuesday.

The Associated Press called both races before all the votes were counted in heavily Republican counties considered safe for both incumbents.

Joyce defeated Democratic challenger Beth Farnham in the Commonwealth’s 13th congressional district, which includes all of Cumbria County and parts of Somerset.

“I am honored and privileged to represent and serve the hardworking families of Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District, and I am grateful for the support, faith and trust my constituents have shown in me,” Joyce said.

“I will continue to be the strongest advocate for south-central Pennsylvania in Washington, and I will never stop fighting to preserve our freedoms, protect our communities, grow our economy, and ensure every family has access to affordable and innovative health care.”

Reschenthaler answered a challenge from Democrat Chris Dziados, a Consolidated High School graduate, in the 14th Congressional District. He will continue to represent a district that includes nearly all of Somerset County, as well as most of Indiana and Westmoreland counties.

“I am deeply honored to represent Pennsylvania’s 14th District and am humbled by today’s stunning victory,” Reschenthaler said. “Thank you for trusting me to be your voice in Washington. I will never stop fighting for the people of southwest Pa.”

Both Joyce and Reschenthaler entered the U.S. House of Representatives in 2019.
