Indiana Supreme Court justices easily retain seats in 2024 elections

Five state Supreme Court and Court of Appeals judges on the ballot in Indiana this year easily retained their seats on the bench in Tuesday’s elections.

There was a somewhat organized effort this year to encourage Hoosiers to vote against keeping three participants members of the Supreme Court who voted: Chief Justice Loretta Rush and Justices Mark Massa and Derek Molter.

All three voted to support the state. almost complete ban on abortionprompting mostly online attempts to force them to leave their seats.

But those efforts made little difference, as all three received at least 68 percent of the vote in favor of keeping them.

No justice or justice has ever lost a judicial retention vote in the 54 years since Indiana’s judicial retention system was enacted.
