Hawley teachers win pay raise after dispute with district – InForum

HAWLEY, Minn. — A resolution was reached during the meeting.

dispute between a group of Hawley teachers and the district superintendent over pay increases

and reimbursement of expenses associated with graduate study.

The agreement, signed Thursday, Nov. 7, shows six teachers will receive pay increases after completing graduate courses at Idaho State University.

Superintendent Peter Jensen initially approved the career development classes but withdrew the approval in September, saying the classes were too easy.

The teachers wanted to get back the money they spent on classes. The resolution passed Thursday said the district will no longer accept Idaho State University advanced placement courses in the future.

Two teachers already accepted to take courses at the university will still receive credit for them.

Our news department occasionally publishes articles under the byline “staff.” Often the byline “staff” is used when rewriting basic news reports taken from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no coverage. Sometimes this caption is used when a news story includes multiple authors or when a story is formed by combining previously published news from various sources. If external sources are used, this is noted in the article.
